next 5 recipes: naan

in the batch of 5 recipes i’m making right now, naan was at the top of the list. this garlic cilantro naan from the third magnolia table cookbook is delicious by itself or as the clean up crew for anything with sauce [my go-to is this chicken tikka masala].

while this risen bread takes a little more prep than running to the store to pick up some naan, it is so worth it when you have the time. the warm bread smothered with garlic cilantro butter is the perfect balance of flavor and comfort. pan-frying them gives a nice exterior crust while staying chewy and soft on the inside. if cilantro isn't your thing, these would still be delicious with just garlic.

in the process of making this, i think the yeast i was using was either old or i didn’t let it activate properly [probably the latter] ssooo i was a little nervous that i had ruined the dough. after proofing, the dough didn’t rise that much, but i decided to go for it anyways - i’m glad i did! after a few minutes of frying these up, they are ready for consumption.

these are probably best eaten within a day or two, and reheating them in a pan is a great way to restore them to their original glory. would love to know if you try them [and what you make to go with them].
